Keloid Scars
What are keloid scars?
These are scars which become raised, shiny and are rubbery to the touch. There may associated irritation or even pain, and increased pigmentation.
They are more likely to occur in darker skin types and can growand spread to cover larger areas than the original scar or cut. Apart from being unsightly they can restrict movement.
They can also cause pressure on the surrounding tissues and thereby restrict circulation and cause harm to adjunct structures such as skin, tendons and muscles.
